 | | | | Software Engineer - APP-V | Skills | Experience Repackaging Applications into MS App-V Sequences and MSI Format; MS Application Virtualization; InstallShield; VB Scripting; Active Directory | | Date | 10-5-2010 | | Location | Chicago, IL 312 | | Terms | CON_CORP, CON_IND, CON_W2 | | Rate | market 6 months | | Job Description: | The candidate will be responsible for repackaging applications primarily into Microsoft App-V sequences and secondarily into MSI format both following industry best practices. You will be performing thorough internal testing, working with team members on quality assurance, and promoting the software to the production environment.
The application packager is also utilized as a support resource to the many application teams who utilize our output. You will be required to attend production challenge meetings and brainstorming sessions and provide appropriate input.
Experience
Candidates must have:
* 3 years experience repackaging applications for a large corporate environment.
* 6 months of App-V sequencing experience with dynamic suiting.
* Expert troubleshooting skills (conflict resolution, installation and compatibility issues)
* Strong analytical and analysis skills
* Technical writing skills are required.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft App-V, InstallShield, VBscripting, Citrix, and Active Directory
* Familiarity with LANDesk, Remedy, SCCM, and VMware.
* An understanding of file, folder, and registry permissions and how to set them through MSI installer or similar utilities.
* Understanding of folder redirection and group policies and how these affect applications. Understanding of how applications interact with the OS and expert troubleshooting/analysis skills.
* Ability to work in a team atmosphere while being self motivated with minimum direction in a fast paced environment.
* Ability to multitask and easily adapt the changing priorities.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
